Each notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which interacts with the hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, together with any apps that are currently installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each and every application runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server packages come with three Linux distributions that you may pick from for the Operating System of your new server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being 100 % free, the OSs are very stable and safe and the key reason to offer you the 3 of them is to make sure that you will be able to run each app that you'd like, because different pieces of software have different requirements when it comes to the environment they work on. Each of the three OSs is supported by a large community of web developers who have generated a large number of software packages which you can install and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System which you choose, you will also be able to choose between three different Control Panels to take care of your website hosting content. Needless to say, if you decide that you need a new OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to acquire one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a larger choice with regard to the system environment on the machine as different applications could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a reliable and risk-free web hosting service. Based on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you have selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software which you would like to run. We can also upgrade the OS regularly in order to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
